Hat Hair

It's All Mine, Chemo Can't Take It!
You cut your hair and put it into plugs and secure each plug with rubber bands or clips. A large ponytail is fine, too.
We organize and sew the hair into a strip.
Then we put
Velcro on the strip and the hat.
All you have to do is put it on.
You have your hair back!
Losing my hair was one of the worst parts of the experience of breast cancer. I found out that I had breast cancer on October 21, 2019. I had invasive ductal carcinoma, Stage 1. My treatment was a bilateral mastectomy, chemotherapy, and therapy for lymphedema.
I knew I was going to lose my hair but when it started falling out ten days after my first chemo treatment, I was panicking.
My twin sister, Diane, was relentless in her search to figure out a way to use her hair and put it in a hat for me. My hair was too short to use, but Diane's was thick so we used her underneath hair. We figured out how to keep the hair in a strip of material and how to keep the hair in a hat.
We made my "hat hair" the day after I started losing my hair.
It made me feel like myself again.
Finding out my sister had cancer was one of the worst days of my life. I was so upset that she would lose all of her hair. I decided I would cut my long, blonde hair for her, but didn't know what to do with it.
When her hair started to fall out, she was devastated. I figured that I would have to do something fast. I thought and prayed about it all night. I came up with a way to attach my hair to a hat. Since my hair underneath was dark blonde, we used that and added Denise's hair as highlights. It turned out beautiful.
For months afterward she continued to wear the hat hair daily until her hair grew back in.
If you want to keep your own hair and it is at least 6 inches long, we can put your hair in a hat.
If you have already lost your hair, we make Hat Hair from donated hair and hats. We will send pictures of what we currently have when you contact us. Just choose one and it's yours.
We take donations of real hair at least 6" or longer including dyed hair and we take donations of new hats.
